In, Out or on the Bubble: High School Football Playoff Standings

Postseason Seeding Explained: The TSSAA breaks schools into public (Division I) and private (Division II) schools. Division I is divided by school size into six Classes,1A (smallest) to 6A (biggest), with each Class broken down into four-to-eight team Regions. Division II has far fewer teams and just two sizes, A and AA, each with an East/Middle Region and a West Region.

In Division I Class 6A, all 32 teams automatically get into the first round of the postseason; In Class 1A through 5A, the top 4 teams in each Region (which used to be called Districts) get in.

In Division II-AA 11 teams get in, 7 from East/Middle Region and 4 from West Region. In Division II-A, 16 teams get in, 8 from East/Middle Region and 8 fro West Region.
