In the first round of the Class 6A playoffs on Friday night, Franklin beat visiting Houston, 30-8.
The Rebels had this one all the way, taking a two touchdown lead in the first quarter that they built on as the game went on.
Running the ball Matt Burns had a big game for Franklin, racking up 142 yards on 22 carries. Alex Gaca caught 2 passes for 66 yards and Mitch Rossi had a bit 71-yard touchdown catch and quarterback Kyle Evans ran in two scores.
Christopher Miller-Hill made three field goals for Franklin.
As a team the Rebels ran for 211 yards and passed for 143.
Evans rushed 5 times for 27 yards and his two scores, while throwing 2 for 6 for 42 yards. Wes Patterson, coming in for Evans at times, threw 3 for 4 for 101 yards and a score.
Franklin was facing the one-win Houston (now 1-10) in the playoffs because in Class 6A all teams make the playoffs.
Next week the Rebels host No. 6 seed Wilson Central (5-6), who Franklin beat 35-3 in October.
