by Williamson Source

school headerBattle Ground Academy and Webb (4-3),  were neck and neck all night.

It was one of those games when whoever scored last was going to win.

Unfortunately for the Wildcats, it was Webb who scored last, pulling off the 35-28 win.

Wildcats Find No Chair When the Music Stops

The loss- the second straight for the 5-2 Wildcats- hurt twice as hard, considering that BGA lost to Webb in the Division II-A BlueCross Bowl state championship game last year.

Marcus Cawthorne had a big game in the loss, catching 54-and-60 yard touchdown passes.

Clayton Beathard threw  54, 60 and 80 yard touchdown passes.

Webb followed Cawthorne’s touchdown with a Tommy Jordan 1-yard touchdown run.

Terell Webster returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown to put BGA up 14-7 in the second quarter.

But every time BGA got ahead, Webb came right back. Usuall with Jordan. He scored four touchdowns, three from 1-yard out and a 15-yard run in the second quarter.

It was his last touchdown, however, that put Webb up for good.

In the fourth quarter, after an 80-yard touchdown catch by Webster tied the game at 28, Webb went back down the field and Jordan punched it in from a yard away, to give Webb the win.

Webb rushed 68 times for 480 yards; BGA 18 times for 19 yards.

On the flip side, BGA passed for 302 yards to 30 by Webb.

Next week the Wildcats go to Ezell-Harding (3-4, 1-2) for another Division II-A district game.
