Flooding May Be Concern This Week

With the ice and cold quickly becoming a past nightmare, this week’s weather forecast for warmer weather, may also bring new concerns as the early Spring season starts off wet.

The National Weather Service predicts anywhere between 3-4 inches of rain between Monday night and Friday night. With grounds saturated from recent rains and melting ice and snow, the possibility of localized flooding seems probable. Problem areas on the Harpeth will need to be monitored also:

Williamson Source will work hard all week to monitor the situation and keep you informed should flooding happen. Good news is this should all move out in time for BrewFest in Downtown Franklin TN next Saturday!

Tips to Remember should Flooding occur:

  • Build an emergency kit and make a family communications plan.
  • Avoid building in a floodplain unless you elevate and reinforce your home.
  • Elevate the furnace, water heater and electric panel in your home if you live in an area that has a high flood risk.
  • Consider installing “check valves” to prevent flood water from backing up into the drains of your home.
  • If feasible, construct barriers to stop floodwater from entering the building and seal walls in basements with waterproofing compounds. (Tips Courtesy of ready.gov).
