After Flood, Elementary School Reopening

The rain on Thursday and Friday caused flooding throughout Middle Tennessee.

Parts of Westwood Elementary School in Fairview were affected by the floods, the only school to be so affected, and closed Friday.

“We had some flash flood waters enter the building that affected our classroom hallways,” Carol Birdsong, Williamson County Schools communications director, said. “The gym, cafeteria, library, office and other classroom space was not affected.”

The school will reopen on Tuesday.

Birdsong said the maintenance department worked all day Friday and over the weekend to get the school ready to open Tuesday.
