Attention all runners: Are you ready for a challenge?
The Dances with Dirt – Gnaw Bone 50K and 13.1 mile training begins this Saturday, February 6th with Fleet Feet. There’s still time to sign up!
Training will be Feb 6th – May 7th. The goal race is Gnaw Bone “Dances with Dirt” in Brown County, Indiana on May 14, 2016.
Two groups are participating in the program: Ultra Dirtbags and Dirtbags.
Ultra Dirtbags 50k are more experienced runners ready for challenging, thrilling and a adventure. Ultra Dirtbags will begin training for a 50k trail run with your RRCA certified coach. Runners must be able to run 10 miles continuously on the road before signing up. Upon completion of the race you will have earned the right to be a Fleet Feet Sports Ultra Dirtbag.
Dirtbags 13.1k are runners looking to take their run off the street and onto the trails. If you’re not ready for the 50K distance, the Dirtbags are perfect for you. You’ll need to be able to run at least 3 miles to join and you will be training for a half marathon distance 13.1 trail run.
“It is not necessary that you have run trails before training with us,” says Malin Timbs with Fleet Feet Nashville Coach. If you are a runner and you want something different, this is it! Runners training will meet their group every weekend for long distance runs. Most of these runs will take place at Percy Warner Park. Coach Malin Timbs will personalize each training session, be your personal trail guru, and help push you to achieving your runners goals.
“We convert a lot of roadies to the trails and a lot of half marathon trail runners move on to doing the 50k trail distance. It’s addictive and fun!” says Coach Timbs.
Participants must be 16 or older to run in the ultra distance.
