The Big Payback takes place on Tuesday, May 3 and Fleet Feet is getting involved. The Big Payback is a community-wide, 24 hour online giving challenge hosted by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. This charitable event helps area nonprofits raise much-needed dollars and bring awareness to pressing needs in our communities.
Start your Tuesday morning at 6 am at Fleet Feet Nashville located at 3900 Hillsboro Pike, for an early morning 3-5 mile fundraiser fun run benefitting Girls on the Run (GOTR) to kick off The Big Payback. The Fleet Feet team will be running from the Green Hills location, beginning at 6 am, followed by a foam rolling clinic with Trigger Point.
For donations, there will be an iPad available for card use. The lowest donation you can give is $10, which covers healthy snacks for one girl during a season of GOTR, $25 covers the cost of a new pair of shoes for a GOTR who cannot afford proper footwear, $120 covers the cost of a scholarship for one season.
Girls on the Run was established in 1996 in Charlotte,N orth Carolina. Program founder, Mary W.Barker realized that a running program gave her “respect for my body and all the things it can do.”  Her initial Girls on the Run group had 13 members which has now grown to serve over 1 million girls in 2015 nationwide.
In a 24-week program, girls learn about understanding themselves,valuing relationships and teamwork, and understanding they connect with and shape the world at large. Over the course of the program, participants develop and improve competence, feel confidence in who they are, develop strength of character, respond to others and themselves with care and compassion, create positive connections with peers and adults, and make a meaningful contribution to community and society.
