Five Christ Presbyterian Academy Athletes Sign Letters of Intent

Christ Presbyterian Academy announced five student athletes have signed National Letters of Intent.  In an on-campus ceremony, attended by students, families, and Academy administration, volleyball team member Carris Campbell along with basketball team member Micah Davis, baseball team members Houston Nichols and Jordan Baker, and golf team member Scotty Hudson all put pen to paper as a first step towards their college career.

From Head Volleyball Coach Alex Young, “Carris is the kind of player that anyone would love to coach. She is a humble, intelligent, highly-skilled and hard-working athlete that leads in whatever aspect she can.”

In spite of her shoulder rehabilitation that kept her from playing the majority of her senior season, Campbell led her team to the Sectional Tournament, and has committed to play at Furman University next fall.

Head Basketball Coach Drew Maddux comments on Micah, “Micah Davis is a special young man who pursues excellence in every aspect of his life – athletically, academically, relationally, and most important, in his relationship with Jesus Christ. I consider it an incredible honor and privilege to have coached Micah and look forward with excitement at how his senior year will unfold.”

Davis has committed to play basketball at Indiana Wesleyan University next year.

Houston Nichols will play baseball at Trevecca Nazarene University. Head Baseball Coach Larry Nesbitt on Nichols, “For the past 3 years, I have had the opportunity to see so many honorable characteristics in Houston Nichols. He consistently commits to causes greater than himself and has served as an incredible model to the players in our program in the way he plays baseball and lives life.”

When asked about Jordan Baker, Head Baseball Coach Larry Nesbitt had the following comment, “Very seldom do you come across a young man that has a true identity at such a young age. Jordan Baker understands that he is a dearly loved child of God, a dearly loved son, brother, and teammate. This understanding has truly released him to live life and play baseball freely.” Jordan will play baseball at Rhodes College.

Golf state champion Scotty Hudson looks forward to further pursuing golf at Western Kentucky University.

“Although Scotty has been a player of great determination and leadership, his individual accomplishments throughout his career at CPA pale in comparison to his desire for our team to accomplish its goal of winning a State Championship. He is a mature player, and I look forward to seeing him succeed in his collegiate career.”

Athletic Director Mike Ellson thanked the athletes for their contribution to the CPA community and closed the ceremony with prayer.
