The father-son adventure weekend is a life changing bonding experience for all ages. Grandfathers, uncles and mentors are also encouraged to attend. Have more than once son? Bring them all this is a family event.
Packages include 2 nights of lodging, worship & speaker sessions, event shirt, 5 hearty meals.
Deer Run Adventure has some amazing activities available including football challenges, homerun derby, and an amateur fishing tournament. Some other activities available are lake swimming with zip lines, water slides, canoes, and a whole bunch more.
When asked about the bonding that happens between father and son, Fred Reyes Camps and Recreation Senior Director said, “I have seen fathers and sons attend our event with a huge gap between them. Family problems, relational issues, etc sometimes plague the relationship between a father and a son, our event works to tear down barriers and create lasting memories and bonds that will help repair and strengthen these relationships.”
Mr Reyes went on to say, “I am blessed to have watched fathers and sons arrive in rough shape, but not want to leave at the end of the event because they have grown together so rapidly in a short weekend. We close our event with a one on one blessing – every father says how proud he is of his son and prays for God to grow him to a strong Godly man. This is the best way to end out event, this one act has the potential to alter the life of a young boy and dramatically change his future.”
There are also additional activities not covered with the initial camp fee and these do cost extra. How about some paintball or a climbing tower for the action junky? There is an amateur 3-D archery tourney for $5 per person with prizes awarded to top teams.
Mike Flynt will be the event speaker this year. In 2007, at age 59, Mike returned to his alma mater Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas and made the team as linebacker — becoming the oldest contributing member of a college football team in NCAA history.
