After retaining the Bishop’s Cup last week, Father Ryan (3-2, 2-1 DII-AA) got upset on the road on Friday night.
Evangelical Christian, 0-4 before Friday, surprised the Fighting Irish 28-14.
After scoring the first points of the game, the Irish fell behind and never led again.
Almost A Comeback
After Father Ryan quarterback Zach Pfeifer found B.J. Bishop for a 50-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, the Fighting Irish gave up 14 straight points.
I want to personally thank the parents and fans there for their support and love & I promise we are not goin down easy & not done#IrishPride

Down 14-7 at halftime, Father Ryan was in an unexpected place considering the teams’ respective records coming into the night.
With less than three minutes left in the third quarter, Pfeifer ran in a touchdown to tie the game 14-14.
“His athleticism in running the ball has added another dimension to our offense and opened up the passing game,” said Bruce Lussier, Father Ryan head coach. “He has been patient and exploited what the defense has given him.”
But over the next four minutes, Evangelical scored two quick touchdowns, and Father Ryan could not mount a comeback in the remaining 11 minutes of the fourth quarter.
The loss, fortunately for Father Ryan, has little impact on its Division II-AA East/Middle standing.
But the outcome when the Irish visit Montgomery Bell Academy (5-0) next Friday, of course, will.
