Lady Irish Volleyball Team Wins State Title

The Father Ryan Lady Irish Volleyball Team claimed the 5th Volleyball State Title in the school’s history as they topped Briarcrest 3-1 in a championship game on Oct 23rd.  The title caps an outstanding 40-10 season for the team and for Coaches Jinx Cockerham and Suzanne Spore.  The Lady Irish had to rally from 0-2 starts against both St. Agnes and defending state champion Baylor to earn a spot in the title game.

The Lady Irish split the first two games with Briarcrest before taking charge in game 3 by a 25-16 score and closing out the match by a 25-21 score in game 4.  Lauren Dorrell led the Irish with 30 kills and 19 digs, followed by Olivia Rolick’s 17 kills and 15 digs.  Anna Hardin had 17 digs, Maggie Thompson set up teammates with 50 assists and Maxie Edwards had six blocks.
