Brentwood and Franklin area schools will be represented at the TSSAA Spring Fling state championships in Murfreesboro and surrounding areas this week. Click here for Home Page’s special Nashville Spring Playoff Coverage page for game reports and updates throughout the week.

Here’s a fan’s guide to the action:

BASEBALL

Five teams from inside and around Williamson County will compete in state tournaments this week.

Ravenwood (22-15) opens its third straight Class AAA state tournament with a matchup against Stewarts Creek at Oakland High School at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The loser will play in an elimination game at 10 a.m. Wednesday, while the winner will play in the game after. Another elimination game will take place at 5 p.m. that day.

All of Ravenwood’s tournament games will be played at Oakland.

Summit (32-15) makes its first Class AAA tournament appearance with a game at Siegel at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The loser will play at 10 a.m. Wednesday, while the winner will play in the game after. Another elimination game will take place at 5 p.m. that day.

All of Summit’s games will be played at Siegel.

Friday’s Class AAA state championship game is at 5 p.m. at MTSU.

Brentwood Academy (25-11) will take on McCallie in the Division II-AA semifinals at 4 p.m. Tuesday. The loser will play at 10 a.m. Wednesday, while the winner will play in the game after. Another elimination game will take place at 5 p.m. that day.

All of those games will be played at Wilson Central High School.

The DII-AA state championship is at 2 p.m. Thursday at MTSU.

Christ Presbyterian Academy (28-9) will begin its Class AA title defense with a first-round matchup against Upperman at Blackman High School at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The loser of that game will play at 10 a.m. Wednesday, while the winner will play in the game after. Another elimination game takes place later that day.

All of CPA’s games will be played at Blackman.

The Class AA championship is at MTSU at 2 p.m. Friday.

Franklin Road Academy (22-11) will take on the Division II-A bracket at LaVergne High School.

Its first matchup is against Evangelical Christian School at 4 p.m. Tuesday. The loser of that game will play at 10 a.m. Wednesday, while the winner will play in the game after. Another elimination game takes place later that day.

The DII-A state championship will be played at 11 a.m. Thursday at MTSU.

SOCCER

Ravenwood (10-3-3) begins its second straight trip to the Class AAA state tournament with a battle against Dobyns Bennett (20-1-1) at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

A win will advance the Raptors to a semifinal matchup against either Houston or Oakland.

The Class AAA championship is at 1:30 p.m. Friday.

All soccer games will be played at Richard Siegel Soccer Complex.

Franklin Road Academy (14-4-4) will take on Evangelical Christian School in the Division II-A semifinals at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The DII-A championship will be played at 4 p.m. Thursday.

TENNIS

Brentwood High’s boys and girls tennis teams open the week with matches in the Class AAA semifinals Tuesday.

The Lady Bruins will take on Bearden at 1 p.m., while the boys team will battle Tennessee at 3.

If both teams advance, the girls will play at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday and the boys will compete at 1:30 p.m.

All matches are at Old Fort Park in Murfreesboro.

On Thursday, the boys and girls singles and doubles tournaments begin for Class A-AA, AAA, Division II-A and DII-AA.

TRACK & FIELD

Spring Fling kicked off with the girls pentathlon on Monday. Amber Tanner from Ravenwood finished first in the final event to win the Class AAA pentathlon by one point at Middle Tennessee’s track on Monday. Thee boys decathlon began Monday and continues Tuesday.

The girls pole vault will take place Wednesday and the boys pole vault is on Thursday.

Capping off the week is the girls running event finals and boys pole vault Thursday, and the boys running event finals on Friday.
