Fall Break Planner: 3 Creative Places to Take Your Kids

The leaves are beginning to turn and the kids are getting a bit antsy. It must be time for fall break! Below are some creative fall break activities that will keep your kids’ brains churning while having fun too.

CREATIVE FALL BREAK ACTIVITIES:

  1. Extracurricular Center – This dynamic activity center is geared toward any child who likes to have fun and learn by doing. Located at 1642 Westgate Circle in the Maryland Farms section of Brentwood, the Extracurricular Center provides kids with hands-on experience in math, technology, engineering and science. Fall break classes will be held Fri., Oct. 16 and Mon., Oct. 19 with a Robotics class being held from 9a.m. – Noon, and Computer Programming from 1p.m. – 4p.m. Campers can register for one or both classes. Upcoming…enjoy an authentic Halloween experience. The Extracurricular Center will be exploring the magic of chemistry by mixing “potions.” Open to kids of all ages and/or families, the Potions Year 1 class will be creating substances and looking at the reactions they make. 2. Cheekwood – Cheekwood Art & Gardens, located at 1200 Forest Park Drive in Nashville is not only hosting the “Cheekwood Harvest” through November 1, which is full of activities designed to appeal to the entire family, including live music and “Art”ivities. Cheekwood is also hosting a special School’s Out Art Camp Mon., Oct. 12 from 9a.m. – 4p.m. for children ages 5-12 years. The kids will draw, paint and explore the gardens. The Nashville Zoo – Located at 3777 Nolensville Pike in Nashville, the Zoo at Grassmere has many activities going on daily, like their educational animal shows called “Animal Encounters,” “Keeper Talk,” and their popular eight day annual “Boo at the Zoo,” that begins the evening of Oct. 16 – not to mention a fantastic play structure!
