Stratford scored another stunning upset with a 26-14 win over Fairview on Friday night in the TSSAA Class 3A football playoffs.

The Spartans, 2-8 when the playoffs started, pulled a third-straight playoff win and advance to the semifinals to play Covington.

Fairview quarterback Brock Harris hit Blake Russell for the game’s opening touchdown. Stratford answered with a touchdown, but the Yellowjackets blocked the point-after.

That 7-6 lead held at half, but the Spartans, and Fairview extended the lead to 14-12 late in the third quarter. But Stratford scored 14 unanswered points to end the game, the last coming on James Moore’s third touchdown.

Fairview (10-3), led by Mr. Football Finalist Kam Harris-Lusk, saw its season end. The Yellowjackets beat 10-1 East Nashville, and before that, 4-7 Sycamore, to get this far.

The Yellowjackets won Region 6 of Class 3A this season, going unbeaten in league play.
