school headerFairview came up big when the pressure mounted.

Fairview, Indeed

The Yellowjackets (1-2, 1-0) looked better than fair in winning its first 3A Region 6 game of the year. In the first half they scored more points than in the previous two combined, led by an absolutely unstoppable run game- 32 carries for 355 yards and 3 TDs as a team.

The game was not as close as the final score, with Stewart County(0-3, 0-1 putting up 19 desperate points in the fourth quarter after Fairview sat its starters.

Through three quarters, Fairview led 42-14, driven by simply scary games from Jake Beathard and Hunter Caldwell.

Beathard, who scored on runs of 30, 30 and 24 yards, gained 232 yards on just 12 carries. He averaged just shy of 20 yards per carry.

Caldwell added 101 yards on 12 carries, balancing that with 141 yards on 5 catches- including a pair of 41-yard touchdowns.

Jacob Baker saw his first action of the year at quarterback for Fairview, going 6-16 for 149 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Fairview travels to undefeated Waverly Central (3-0) on Friday, for its first road game since opening night against Page.
