The Yellow Jackets swarmed the field to take a big 52-28 win over Harpeth at home last night, and will see Westmoreland (8-2) next Friday at 7 p.m. for the second round of the TSSAA playoffs.

Dreshad Moore ignited the field with a 61-yard TD on the first play into the game.  Moore was explosive all night and head Coach Chris Hughes says that he is the spark that makes the yellow-and-black go.

“Dreshad gives us the spark and the energy and we feed off him,” noted Hughes.

Into the second, Moore ignited the field with an 80-yard return to lead into a TD for Fairview.

“He made that big run, and you could see the teammates,” stated a proud Hughes.

“Football is a game of momentum, and when Dreshad does something well, it gives us momentum.  We need him to do that a lot next week.”

However, Harpeth quickly responded with a 61-yard TD of its own to tie it up in the first 7-7.

Hunter Zimmerman would sail it to Mike Jordan for 26-yards to put up a 14-7 advantage on the board with about six minutes left in the first.  Fairview would score once more before the end of the quarter, with a Nic Harvey TD.

Harpeth did not seem to be letting the Yellow Jackets fly away that easily.  The team kept it at a touchdown’s distance between the two scores leading into the second with another score, 21-14.

Chase Myatt put up a field-goal into the second to give Fairview the 10-point advantage.  By the end of the first half, the Yellow Jackets had a solid 31-14 lead over Harpeth.

Harvey and Moore sealed off a 24-point lead at the end of the third, and Fairview only allowed two more TD’s from Harpeth in the fourth.  However, not without putting up another score for the record books and fastening a 52-28 final score.

Fairview will see Westmoreland (8-2) at home next week, and Hughes says it’s all about taking it game-by-game.

“There’s a lot of teams that are going to be at home next week so we get to keep practicing and keep working,” stated Hughes, “our kids are excited we get one more Friday night because that’s all the seniors are promised right now.  It’s one game at a time…so they have one more next week and hopefully we can play well and advance and get one more the next week.”
