Fairview Police Evacuate Homes in Western Woods Subdivison

Tuesday afternoon around 4:30pm, Fairview Police had to evacuate some homes in the Western Woods subdivision at Grand and Cox Pike due to a possible explosive device  Parents were asked to pick their kids up at Food Saver if they were bus riders.

Update 5:31pm – According to Fairview Police the evacuated area is clear. A gas line tracking device was found. People can now return home.

Update: 5:40pm- Fairview Polic report the scene is clear and Fairview PD and Fire have resumed normal operations. This device was apparently a piece of equipment used to locate plastic pipe. It is unknown why the device was left behind but a representative from Piedmont Gas came to the scene and verified that it was equipment that their subcontractors utilize. Agencies that responded were Williamson County EMA, Fairview PD, and Fairview Fire. The Fairview PD thank the Williamson County Emergency operations center as well as the Williamson County School system for coordinating rapidly with them and the Tennessee Highway Patrol Bomb Squad who were on the way to the scene when the device was identified as non- threatening.

 

Update: We are now allowing people back into their homes. The scene is clear and Fairview PD and Fire have resumed…
