Fairview Looks To Sting Camden Central, Win Regional Crown

In the midst of a 6-game winning streak, Fairview (6-2, 4-0) hosts Camden Central (4-4, 4-0) in a matchup for the Class 3A Region 6 crown. The teams, both undefeated in regional play, each have clinched a home game in the first round of the 3A playoffs.

Offensively, the Yellow Jackets have put up points in bunches. Fairview is averaging over 34 points per game. That number climbs to more than 42 points per game in regional play, as the Jackets have topped 41 points in 3 of their 4 regional contests. Fairview has used a strong run game through this season to put up their offensive numbers. Over the past two weeks, Caldwell has scored 5 touchdowns for the Yellow Jackets. Caldwell’s backfield running mate, Jake Beathard, has been complimented Caldwell, putting up 10 touchdowns this season of himself.

Through the air, Fairview has been led by Hunter Zimmerman. Zimmerman has thrown for 8 touchdowns since the Jackets fourth game. Fairview’s passing offense has led the Jackets between the 20 yard lines, allowing the run game to finish their drives off. Zimmerman’s favorite targets include Kameron Harris-Lusk, Sam Sanborn, and Ben Buttrey.

The Yellow Jackets defense has been a bend, but don’t break defense, stepping up when the offense has somewhat sputtered. Fairview has given up less than 22 points per game, 20 points per game in regional play. The Lions offense has put up 30 points per game in regional play, but has struggled against some of the better teams in Region 3.

Friday night’s game will have huge implications in postseason play. Not only will the regional crown be determined, but both teams will try to keep up their momentum going into the playoffs. Fairview is one of the hottest teams in Williamson County and has a chance for their first regional title since their 2011 Class 2A District 12.
