The Yellow Jackets (10-1) will move on to round 2 of the TSSAA play-offs this Friday, as they take on Westmoreland (9-2) on the yellow-and-black turf.  The last time these two teams met, Fairview took a 27-20 win over the Eagles in 2004, according to CoachT.com.

Fairview took a 52-28 win over Harpeth (6-5) last week in the first round of the play-offs, and this week will be an even tougher battle.

Westmoreland stands 8-2 in the regular season and hails from District 9. Harpeth stands in the same district and took a 14-29 loss against the Eagles, earlier in the season.

The Eagles two losses have come from East Nashville (9-2) and White House (9-2). In both of those games, Westmoreland lost by 14 or more points to the opposing team. Fairview’s one loss to undefeated Lewis County was only by a short shot of 3 points.

Westmoreland puts an average of 21.8 points up and allows its opponents to score an average of 14.8. Also, the Eagles average about a 12-point difference in final scoring.

Fairview puts up about a 30-point average in difference of its final scores against opponents.

The Eagles took a 30-21 win over East Hickman (7-4) in the first round. The Yellow Jackets upped that score earlier in the season with a 14-point win over East Hickman at Homecoming.

Fairview and Westmoreland both stand at second in their districts, and MaxPreps has Fairview ranked 49th in the state, while Westmoreland rests at 101.

Although taking a big win in the first round last week, the Yellow Jackets had a lot to work on before this week’s game. Fairview had 115 penalty yards and two turnovers during the match-up against Harpeth. The yellow-and-black came back strong with a 24-point win for the night, but they didn’t have a good grip on the lead until the second half.

Dreshad Moore secured a 38-14 lead with almost an 80-yard run right into the second half, and Fairview will need that kind of power this Friday night.

If Fairview can pull a win out of this one, they will take on the winner of the CPA (11-0) vs. East Nashville (9-2) in the third round next Friday night.
The Yellow Jackets will kick-off at 7 p.m. against Westmoreland at Fairview.
