Fairview Football Coach Selected For TN All Star Classic

Fairview Football Coach Chris Hughes has been selected to the coaching staff of the 8th Annual Toyota East/West Tennessee All Star Classic. Hughes will serve as the defensive coordinator of the West team.

“I am very humbled and very proud to realize the hard work and efforts of my players and to have received this recognition for the city of Fairview,” said Hughes. “It’s great for the players who have played here for so many years and fought for this recognition. It helps get the word out about the great secret of Fairview High School. We have a great school with great athletic programs, great administration, teacher and unreal students who make things like this happen.”

FairviewHughes received an email with an invitation from Coach Saulsberry, the head coach of the West team and head coach at Westhaven High School, asking Hughes to be a part of his staff. After some encouragement from his wife and assistant coaches, Hughes accepted the invitation.

“I actually debated the invitation because I have so much going on with a busy wife and two children at home, but after encouragement from my wife and other assistant coaches and coaches who said this would be a great experience, I emailed Coach Saulsberry and accepted the invitation.”

Hughes says he is most looking forward to learning new skills to bring into next season.

“I’m mostly excited about meeting and working with these very talented players who will go on to play big time college football,” said Hughes. “I will serve as defensive coordinator. At Fairview I am an offensive guy, but I have been consulting with my defensive coaches to assist me in getting ready. Coach Butler and Coach Jackson have gone out of their way to help me get a defensive plan together. I am so excited to work with a great group of coaches and hope to learn from this experience to make the Fairview Yellow Jackets even better next season.”
