The yellow-and-black are back! Fairview will enter the Class 3A play-offs and stands second in its District, right under Lewis Co (10-0). Friday night, the Yellow Jackets will host the Harpeth (6-4) Indians out of Kingston Springs, Tennessee. 2010 was the last year that the two teams met, where Fairview took a big 49-6 win, in mid-season.

The Indians hail from Class AA-District 9 and hold a 6-4 overall record in the regular season. Opening as an underdog to Fairview, Harpeth is coming off of two losses from White-House Heritage (5-5) and the other from Westmoreland (8-2), who ranks among the top two teams of the District.

Harpeth held a 5-0 lead at the beginning of the season. The Indians have only been able to take one win during the past five games since then against district-rival Sycamore (2-8, 1-5).

And to compare seasons a little more, the Yellow Jackets have not allowed more than 13-points in a game from the opposing team, with the exception of Lewis County, who took a 37-34 win over Fairview. Harpeth has allowed its opponents to score 20 or more points in six of its games.

I’d have to say the odds are in Fairview’s favor. The Yellow Jackets average a little over 40-points in scoring per game, while Harpeth only averages a little over 23.
The great thing about Fairview is the amount of talent it carries onto the field. You don’t just have one player ‘bringing home all the bacon’, essentially, you have several players that have made a significant impact in the Yellow Jackets record this year.

Defensive backs Mike Jordan and Dreshad Moore bring plenty of talent to the table for the yellow-and-black. Garret Wall has run the ball well, and QB Hunter Zimmerman and Nic Harvey have become quite the duo in scoring. Last game against Waverly Central, Hunter Myatt ran 49-yard TD into the end zone for one of his many over the course of the season

Last year in the play-offs, Fairview made it to the second round falling 21-36 to Cheatham County. The Yellow Jackets ended the season 8-4 overall. This year is a different story. The yellow-and-black finished the regular season out with nine wins and just one loss. Three-points is what separates Fairview from coming out of the regular season with an undefeated record.

If the Yellow Jackets can get the win, they will see the winner of the East Hickman (7-3) vs. Westmoreland (8-2) match-up.

The Williamson Source will keep you updated on Fairview throughout the 2013 playoffs and news to come of the Yellow Jackets!
