Faces of Williamson County: “Coach Mickey Marley” Episode 1

High school football coaches play an important role in the development of young men. When Mickey Marley suited up at quarterback for the Franklin Rebels of the 1970s, his mentor was head coach Ray Dalton, a man who also had suited up for Rebels two decades before.

Today, we share a snippet of Coach Mickey Marley’s story. Today’s episode, titled “Coach Dalton” highlights the impact one man can have on another.  And this connection can be a game-changer, on and off the field. In Dalton’s case, his inspiration led Marley to the collegiate level – where that gridiron knowledge was parlayed to the coaching profession, where Marley has coached in West Tennessee for more than 30 years.

Dalton coached for 39 years, guiding Franklin High School, Brentwood Academy and Tifton High School (Ga.).  He died in 2010 at the age of 69.
