Strenuous Hike at Window Cliffs State Natural Area

HIKE STATS: Carpool meeting time: 7:30 a.m. Place: Kroger Hermitage across from Summit Medical Center Estimated drive time (one way): 1.5 hours Trailhead meeting time: 9:00 a.m. Hike distance: 5.4 miles round trip Estimated hike time: 5 hours Difficulty: Strenuous; includes many water crossings Pace: Interpretive hike with many stops. Speed machines, you're on your own. 🙂 Hike Leader: Holly Taylor, Seasonal Interpretive Ranger with Tennessee State Parks PET POLICY: Please note, due to the numerous bridgeless stream crossings and steep bluffs, for safety reasons pets are NOT allowed within Window Cliffs State Natural Area Located within the dissected portion of the Eastern Highland Rim, Window Cliffs consists of a very narrow, elongated ridge that lies in the neck of an incised meander of Cane Creek. Approximately 2.4 stream-miles of Cane Creek flow through the natural area along with Phelps Branch, a tributary to Cane Creek. A few small cascades, steep slopes, and narrow ledges, including a 20-foot waterfall, occur along Cane Creek.
