Comfort Foods & A Strong House Coffee
Feelin’ tired? A little bit down? Or, you know, maybe you just want some pie and a cinnamon roll latte. In fact, you probably need that combo pretty much every day of your life. Cue Merridee’s. Follow the cute little navy awning into comfort food paradise - you’ll find ladies who lunch, high school students dropped off by their moms, families, a young married couple on a date...they’re all united in purpose. That Southern comfort hits the spot. Grab a slice of pie, tuna sandwich, the pimiento cheese, and a cup of their strongly brewed house coffee (they constantly are running out and have to make new pots - it is quite popular). If it’s nice out, take a seat in their outdoor garden area. This is an especially nice spot to take a lunch break after a day perusing the shops of Franklin. Refuel for round 2 at Anthropologie with a slice of pie (or three). Franklin has been voted one of America’s most picturesque towns by publications all over the country. About 20-30 minutes outside of central Nashville, Franklin feels like a countryside that’s only a stone’s throw away from the big city; sprawling hills, cows a-grazin’, and star-gazin’ (the celestial kind and the country kind - pretty much every country star known to man has an estate in the area). The downtown strip boasts award-winning restaurants, live music, historic theaters, and Civil War museums. Franklin was the site of several important Civil War battles, so bring your history buffs here and knock their nerdy little socks off (we’re history nerds ourselves).
