Ensworth looks to compete for state titles, and the Tigers looked ready to do it again after beating Lipscomb Academy, 35-0, in the Tigers’ season opener on Friday night.
Running back Keyshawn Lawrence ran 10 times for 138 yards and two scores, while backfield mate Nicky Clifton ran eight times for 79 and two scores, also.
Tennessee commit Tanner Antonutti was the defensive star, with five total tackles, a sack, and 3 1/2 stops for loss.
Ensworth led 21-0 at half, and out-gained Lipscomb, 383-75.
Quarterback Jaylon King also threw a touchdown, caught a pass for 56 yards, and added 40 yards on punt returns. The Georgia Tech safety commitment added a stop on defense.
King hit Elijah Brooks with a short scoring strike for the first points of the Tigers’ season.
Clifton added a rushing touchdown, as Ensworth led 14-0 at the end of a quarter.
Lawrence added a scoring run for a 21-0 lead with 2:35 left in the first half.
Ensworth stays at home and hosts Christ Presbyterian Academy next week.
