After months of preparation and anticipation, a beloved Nashville restaurant is officially opening the doors to its second location in Cool Springs this weekend. Elliston Place Soda Shop will begin serving customers Saturday, May 26, for a soft opening period, with a Grand Opening celebration set for Saturday, June 2.

“Our team has been looking forward to this day for months, and we truly feel that the Soda Shop will fill a gap for families and everyone in Franklin ,” said Skip Bibb, owner of Elliston Place Soda Shop. “Our original location holds a special place in the hearts of countless Nashvillians, and we can only hope that the Cool Springs location will have that same impact on the community.”

The Grand Opening festivities will kick off the morning of Saturday, June 2, with several special touches planned for the celebration. Purity, a long-time vendor and partner of the Soda Shop, will distribute free ice cream in the parking lot and a face painter will be on-site to entertain children. An all-day affair, guests will be welcomed into the space for a chance to enjoy the restaurant’s breakfast, lunch or dinner offerings.

“Our Grand Opening celebration is the perfect chance for everyone to enjoy a day with their families and come see what the Soda Shop is all about,” Bibb said. “The Elliston Place Soda Shop mission is simple — serve delicious, high-quality food that’s comforting and nostalgic for people of all ages.”

Adding to the fun is a partnership with local craft brewery, Honky Tonk, that has just released its ‘Milkshake IPA,’ a smooth and creamy India pale ale with notes of mango, vanilla bean and El Dorado rum. Elliston Place Soda Shop Cool Springs will have exclusive access to the first batch of this new beer for two weeks, offering it on tap alongside several other local brews.

Bibb said the Elliston Place team felt that the Cool Springs location also provides an opportunity to pay homage to the classic menu, while adding a few upscale, creative dishes to the menu inspired by flavors of the South.

Traditional breakfast dishes, classic burgers, meat-and-three plates, sandwiches and soda fountain options comprise the bulk of the new restaurant’s diner-centric menu. Guests will eat in an open, brightly colored space featuring bold pops of red, black and chrome throughout, reminiscent of a vintage diner in a modern setting. Bright red stools line the expansive soda counter, where guests can order homemade milkshakes, malts, ice cream floats and sodas, sundaes, banana splits and other sweet treats.

Decadent dinner entrée additions include Southern stuffed chicken wrapped in bacon and stuffed with collard greens and served over pimento cheese grits, along with the quintessential Southern dish of chicken and waffles. Seafood options include Cajun-inspired blackened catfish with crawfish étouffée atop a bed of butter pecan rice, along with grilled Scottish salmon topped with a lemon butter sauce.

Other new elements of the Cool Springs menu will include the eventual addition of a variety of spiked milkshakes in flavors ranging from Orange Dreamsicle to Vanilla Bean Bourbon, along with a full bar serving an array craft beers on tap and house cocktails.

Beginning Sunday, June 3, an abundant brunch will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Sunday. Though some brunch items will rotate, weekly staples include an omelet station, waffle station, fried chicken, bacon, sausage, potatoes, gravy, fruit and desserts. The buffet will be $19.95 per person and $8.95 for children 10 and under.

The new location will offer both on and off-site catering, ranging from Elliston place favorites to unique, upscale dishes depending on the occasion, and a private dining space in the back of the restaurant can accommodate up to 80 guests.

The Soda Shop is still seeking employees to round out its team of wait staff, hosts, bussers, soda jerks and more. Those interested in applying can send resumes to general manager Becky Watkins at [email protected] or stop by the restaurant during business hours.

Elliston Place Soda Shop Cool Springs’ regular hours will be 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday,  Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. The restaurant is located at 335 Mayfield Drive in Cool Springs.
