At the Boys & Girls Club 25th annual Steak and Burger Dinner on May 13, Captain Clay Mackey and David Edge will be honored as recipients of the Ed Moody Award of Excellence. They are being recognized for their efforts in organizing the Franklin firefighters’ annual Toy and Clothing Drive.
The Ed Moody Award of Excellence recognizes individuals who have made a lasting impact with the Franklin and Fairview Boys & Girls Clubs and in the Williamson County community. Ed Moody, known as “Mr. Franklin,” was instrumental in the establishment of the Franklin Boys & Girls Club.
“Just as Mr. Moody did, this year’s recipients, along with their fellow firefighters, have inspired the community to go above and beyond to ensure hundreds of kids receive their wishes each year,” said Denise Carothers, Williamson County area vice president.
This year’s event will also feature Vanderbilt University Head Football Coach Derek Mason and involvement by Boys & Girls Clubs members. Mackey, a 27-year Franklin Fire Department veteran is assigned to Station 2 on Murfreesboro Road. He and his wife, Jeannie, live in Franklin. Their daughter, Jordan, is a sophomore at Centennial High School, and their son, Dylan, is a fifth grader at Freedom Intermediate School.
Edge has been with the Franklin Fire Department since 2003 and is assigned to Station 6 on Cool Springs Blvd. He and his wife, Nikki, live in Spring Hill with their four children, David (8), Keegan (7), Slade (5), and Isabella (3). The Steak and Burger Dinner will be held at The Factory.
