Hope, faith, grace and community will greet attendees to The Village Church this Easter.
The Village is a new church with a call to reach out in love and service to the many people living in the Lenox Village and Nolensville areas. The new church began weekly services on January 10 with an unconventional worship style that one visitor dubbed, “orthodoxy in blue jeans.”
The worship service welcomes everyone, no matter what their background, past experiences with church, or preconceived notions of what church should be like. The Village seeks to be a bit different, and a place where everyone belongs. With a blend of contemporary and traditional worship music and the leadership of Pastor Travis Garner, who incorporates laughter, visual elements, and metaphor into his sermons, the church has quickly become home to hundreds of attendees each week.
The season of Easter is about much more than eggs. It’s about the love that Christ freely gives to all people. Easter is a time for celebration, for reflection, a time of hope against all odds, joy in the face of struggle, and peace greater than we could know on our own.
True to its hope to be a different kind of church, Easter at The Village will be out of the norm. The worship will be all-ages, incorporating children into the experience (nursery will be provided for children aged 6 weeks through three years), and instead of one worship service, there will be two services on March 27, at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m., both taking place at Sunset Middle School.
Regular attendees at The Village hope that the community will join them for one of these special Easter services, because there is room for everyone – and everyone needs a community, a village, to support them, encourage them, and walk with them through life’s many trials and celebrations.
