Brentwood Academy outlasted Father Ryan 2-1 Tuesday afternoon in a true pitchers duel of Granny White Pike.
BA’s Ryan Victory and Father Ryan’s Keegan Foge both took no-hitters into the sixth inning before Curtis Turnmyre busted Victory’s no-no with a line-drive double to center field. Victory got out of the inning unscathed though, setting up the Eagles’ bottom frame.
Garrett Smith broke up Foge’s no-hitter, eventually scoring the deciding run on a Bryce Jarvis bases loaded single. Cole Marciniak scored the other run for the Eagles.
Father Ryan put a scare in the Eagles in the top of the 7th as Andrew O’Dwyer hit an RBI line drive to center field. He would eventually record the game-ending out trying to steal second base.
Victory is credited with the win, striking out two and walking two in a complete-game, three-hit effort.
Foge is saddled with the loss for the Irish, pitching all six innings, striking out five, walking two, and giving up two hits.
The series continues Wednesday with a 4:30 p.m. first pitch at Father Ryan.
