Republican presidential candidate, Dr. Ben Carson returned to Williamson County Saturday morning for a second campaign visit in two months. He attended a breakfast with supporters at the home of Franklin Mayor Ken and Linda Moore.
The Williamson County Republication Party Chairman Julie Hamah Taleghani released the following statement about Dr. Carson’s visit:
It is an honor to have Dr. Carson in Franklin again, and now he returns while he is our Party’s frontrunner. I have learned so much from his books and hearing him in-person previously speak several times, but I honestly have to say that I experienced such joy when spending time with Dr. Carson’s wife, Candy during their last visit. She literally kicked-off her shoes, and we talked about my twin boys and the responsibilities of raising kids in this complicated world.
Dr. Ben Carson emphasized that we must simplify the country’s tax code and make it fair. Examples he gave were related to doing away with personal deductions and strategies for bringing money back to America that is currently overseas because private American companies don’t want to be double taxed. Dr. Carson further explained how this could then serve as a stimulus for our local economies.
He also shared such a valuable and timely message with a group of supporters Saturday morning as we gathered in Mayor Moore’s living room – a message straight from the Republican Party Platform. In doing so, he reminded us all that every government regulation hurts the people’s ability to buy and therefore creates an income gap.
