Today, Wednesday, July 6 there will be a commercial filming in downtown Franklin. From 5pm-8pm, parking spots in front of Jack Yacoubian Jewelers will be blocked for the filming of a commercial for Simmons Bank.
There will be no disruptions to pedestrians and the parking spots will be marked early in the morning to ensure they are available at the time of filming.
Simmons Bank began 111 years ago in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, when on March 23, 1903, a local physician-turned-bank president, Dr. John Franklin Simmons, along with a handful of employees, first opened the doors to what was then called Simmons National Bank. Simmons had the distinction of being the first commercial bank in the area with a federal charter designating it as a national bank. At the close of business on that first day, deposits totaled $3,338.22—a respectable start for a bank that would one day grow to become Simmons First National Corporation, one of the largest publicly traded financial holding companies based in Arkansas.
