Don’t Miss the Davis House Legacy Ball

Legacy Ball

Davis House Child Advocacy Center is pleased to announce that Legacy Ball 2016 “Dancing for the Stars-The Children of Davis House” is set for Saturday, March 5th with a wine reception and silent auction beginning at 6:00 pm and dinner at 7:00 pm at Embassy Suites in Cool Springs. The gala event raises funds and awareness for the services and programs Davis House provides to child victims of sexual and severe physical abuse.

Davis House served 505 new child clients last year in its four county service area of Williamson, Hickman, Lewis and Perry counties. Ticket prices are $125 per person; $1,250 for a table of 10. Online registration is available at www.davishousecac.org with additional information by calling 615-790-5900 x 101. Businesses interested in sponsoring the event or providing silent auction items can contact Marcus Stamps, Executive Director, by phone at 615-790-5900 x 101 or send an email to [email protected]. The event draws well over 300 attendees annually and promises to be a big event again this year.

Heidi Schwartz will once again provide a unique Paint Your Event experience with a memorable interpretive live event painting capturing the event and while the final touches are brushed, this painting will be auctioned at the Ball. The artist will paint a picture depicting the events of the evening, capturing the mood and moment and will be offered as one of the most sought after auction items of the night. A unique Not-So-Silent Auction adds to the excitement of the Ball.

“This event sends a message to the abused children in our midst that they are important and people care about ending the abuse and helping them heal” says Marcus Stamps, Executive Director of Davis House.

“We rely heavily on community and public support to fund the investigative services we provide in response to instances of child abuse and the healing services we deliver to the children. We had an increase of over 100 new child clients last year, which requires additional resources to serve a growing number of children needing our services. It is okay to have a good time and laugh at an event like this when you know you are doing something about the problem of abuse” Stamps added.

Statistics and research indicate that while instances of abuse are down from prior years nationally, increased reporting due to awareness and prevention efforts as well as population growth will continue to lead to more children needing services. National statistics indicate one in ten children will be victims of sexual abuse by the time they reach age 18.

Davis House is an accredited child advocacy center by the National Children’s Alliance, and is committed to providing a safe environment where a child’s voice is heard and respected. The Center works to empower non-offending parents to protect their children and actively participates in the state mandated Child Protective Investigation Team as it investigates reported cases of child abuse. Money raised at this year’s event funds programs and services which are provided at no cost to children and their families.

Davis House Child Advocacy Center combats child abuse by coordinating services to children and their families in crisis and providing community education focused on prevention and early intervention. The Center serves Williamson, Hickman, Lewis, and Perry counties, and has locations in Franklin, Hohenwald, and Centerville.
