Don’t Fall for the Retro Mode on Your iPhone

iPhone Retro Mode

A blast into the past often seems nostalgic however this blast to the past will render your iPhone into a brick.

There is a hoax circulating that asks you to set your iPhone back to Jan. 1,1970 and the result is not the old Apple logo but rather a total corruption to your phone.

If you see this fake message that looks like a screen shot from the Apple website,do not reset your device.

iPhone Retro Mode

By setting your phone back to Jan. 1,1970, it will make any iPhone 5 and up along with iPad Air, iPad mini 2 and the 2015 sixth generation iPod touch or newer, The Guardian reports. Guess what? Apple didn’t even exist until 1976.

If you happen to fall for the Retro Mode, you can take your device to the Apple store for restoration but the odds are you will end up purchasing a new device.

Good news-it’s not that easy to reset your phone back to Jan. 1,1970. The Guardian says,it takes lots of scrolling, saving the time, re-entering the time and date settings to scroll back some more. So the likelihood of your mistakenly changing your date is highly unlikely.

There is no clear answer on what exactly causes the issue when time stamp is returned to Jan. 1,1970.
