Division II Basketball Wrap-Up – 1/6/16

Division II-A

BGA Wildcats – As the new year begins, the Wildcats sit at 3-7. Over the holiday break, BGA dropped contests to Centennial, Goodpasture, and Father Ryan and finished 1-2 in the Above the Rim tournament in Centerville. This week, the Wildcats face FRA and Ezell-Harding.

The Lady Wildcats are 5-6. BGA topped Goodpasture, while dropping contests to Centennial and Father Ryan and finished 1-2 in the Above the Rim tournament. The Lady Cats start the second half of the season with games this week against FRA and Ezell-Harding.

FRA Panthers – The Panthers sit at 8-5 midway through the season. FRA hosted the FRA Christmas Classic, where they went 1-2. The break also included wins over Pope John Paul II and Lipscomb Academy and losses to CAK and Knoxville Webb. The Panthers face Ensworth, BGA, and Davidson Academy.

The Lady Panthers are at 11-1 and are in the midst of an 8-game win streak. FRA has wins over Lipscomb Academy, CAK, and Knoxville Webb and won the FRA Christmas Classic. FRA faces Ensworth, BGA, and Davidson Academy this week.

Division II-AA

Brentwood Academy Eagles – The Eagles have kept up their torrid pace this year in two tournaments. BA is 12-1 after winning the King of the Bluegrass tournament in Fairdale, KY and finishing as runner-up in the Go Southern Beach Blowout in Niceville, FL. The Eagles faced top teams from Illinois, Georgia, Kentucky, and Florida in these tournaments. BA enters regional play this week with games against MBA and Baylor on tap.

The Lady Eagles spent their holiday break in two tournaments. BA first traveled to Gilbert, Arizona for the NIKE Tournament of Champions, where the Lady Eagles faced teams from California, Texas, Washington, and Georgia and finished 4th overall. After returning home, Brentwood Academy won the Above the Rim tournament in Centerville. The Lady Eagles enter the back half of their schedule at 11-3. This week, the Lady Eagles face Harpeth Hall and Baylor.

Father Ryan Fighting Irish – The Irish enters the back half of their season at 10-3. Father Ryan stayed close to home and participated in the Page Christmas Classic and finished runner-up in the Willie Brown Christmas Classic. Father Ryan faces off against Station Camp and Pope John Paul II this week.

The Lady Irish look to be one of the biggest challengers to Brentwood Academy’s state championship. Father Ryan currently sits at 13-0. During the holiday break, the Father Ryan ladies won both the Ravenwood Christmas Classic, the St. Pius X Christmas Classic in Atlanta, and a win over BGA between the two tournaments. This week, Father Ryan faces Station Camp and Pope John Paul II.
