Discover Franklin Offers Program for Older Adults

The second annual session of Discover Franklin will begin on June 4 with an Orientation Day.  Over the course of 6 additional days, active older adults (55+) will enhance their understanding of Franklin and be exposed to meaningful volunteer opportunities within the community.

The program consists of six themed days that cover topics including: Local History, Government and Criminal Justice, Education and Health, Economic Development, Culture and Arts and Community Resources and Volunteerism.  This is a hands-on experience for active older adults with presentations by community leaders, discussions and tours.  The dates for the program are June 4, 9, 11, 16, 18, 23 and 25—Tuesdays and Thursdays in June 2015.

The cost of the program is $99 which includes transportation to all the venues from a centralized location within Franklin, lunch for six days, and admittance to all venues.  The program is supported by a grant from Jackson National Life Insurance.  Lunches are provided by Belvedere Commons of Franklin, Home Care Assistance, Interim Healthcare, NHC Place at Cool Springs, Williamson Medical Center and Whole Foods Market.
