Disaster Exercise Provides Insight

Disaster Exercise update

UPDATE 8/28/12 6:30 AM
The results are in and Williamson County is confident in their ability to respond in a crisis. The exercise was focused on a possible tornado scenario and resources worked together to respond effectively in this mock exercise. ‘It was reassuring to see how well different departments across the organization work together to get the job done,’ said Sgt Charles Warner of the Franklin Police Department.

The exercise went well and was designed to pose accurate examples of the challenges faced during a crisis. Feedback from assessors from WEMA and TEMA was extremely positive. “Working with our partners from other agencies in exercises, like this, will pay big dividends when it really counts,” explained Warner.

Friday, August 24th at the Franklin Police Headquarters entities from 12 Williamson County service providers filled a room to test preparedness using a table top exercise. City employees from almost every department will join service providers and stakeholders to work together determining needs for the area when managing a large-scale disaster.

“We work diligently to stay prepared for natural and other hazardous events,” said Franklin City Administrator Eric Stuckey (Photograph). “Exercises like this help to ensure that our team can respond promptly and effectively to serve our citizens during a time of need.”
