Page’s ground attack and defense just keep on rolling, as the Patriots went on the road and smacked Franklin County, 42-7, in a Region 5-5A contest on Friday night.
The Patriots forced key turnovers, and relied on the legs of quarterback Jacob Van Landingham and Bubba Johnson, as Page improved to 3-0.
Van Landingham had three rushing touchdowns, and Johnson scored two.
Van Landingham’s 39-yard run in the third quarter put the Patriots up, 35-0, after the point-after.
Receiver Will Pierce caught a screen pass from backup quarterback Cade Walker and turned it into a 70-yard fourth-quarter score.
The Rebels added a late score to spoil the shutout.
Page’s Michael Burdick forced a fumble on the Page 40 on the game’s first possession.
Moments later, Johnson ran for an eight-yard score as the Patriots took an early lead.
Van Landingham added a quarterback sneak for a score, then, Page’s Luke Bowers recovered a fumble on the next Franklin County possession that. Van Landingham added a 10-yard scoring run moments later.
Page’s Daniel Vaughan then recovered another fumble and Johnson scored on a 13-yard run, followed by his run on a 2-point conversion, that made it 28-0.
Page stays home for the third-straight week to host Ravenwood next Friday.
