The Heritage Foundation of Williamson County has announced that Jars of Clay will perform at the 33rd annual Dickens of a Christmas.
“We are so excited Jars of Clay will be closing out Dickens of a Christmas on Saturday. This is one of only two performances this year. Both are in Franklin, but very different shows,” said Teryl O’Connor, festival director for the Heritage Foundation. “We are so honored that Franklin is getting so much love from this magnificent band.”
In 2004, Jars of Clay founded the nonprofit organization Blood:Water. The organization focuses on supporting African civil society organizations that are working to end the HIV/AIDS and water crises in their home communities. Blood:Water will have a booth at the festival to raise awareness of this ongoing crisis. The free live performance will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9 in the Public Square in Historic Downtown Franklin.
Longtime Franklin resident and founding member of the GRAMMY award-winning band, Dan Haseltine added, “When Jars [of Clay] was touring, I always felt like I missed out on all the wonderful, small-town Christmas experiences in Franklin. Now that Jars of Clay is no longer on the road, I’m grateful to play a bigger part in how we celebrate.”
The Heritage Foundation’s Dickens of a Christmas, presented by First Citizens National Bank, is a Victorian themed street festival that takes place every December in Historic Downtown Franklin. Joining the arts and crafts vendors, there will be over 200 musicians, dancers and characters strolling the streets. For the first time, there will also be ice-skating on the Public Square on both Saturday and Sunday.
