Diaper Drive Deadline is Wednesday

Emily Fengler has been asking Williamson County residents to give love in the form of diapers for Valentine’s Day. For the past two years she has organized diaper drives at Bridges domestic shelter and this year she partnered with GraceWorks. Wednesday, February 13th is the deadline for donations on this drive.

“We’re partnering with GraceWorks to provide diapers to more Williamson County families in need because diapers cost up to $150 per month, many parents have to choose between buying food or diapers and babies without diapers are turned away from childcare,” said Emily.

The goal is to collect 12,000 disposable diapers. In 2011 they collected 7,500 and in 2012 the total was 10,000. The collection grew so quickly that a diaper bank was formed for county mothers in need.

People can drop off diapers at GraceWorks, 104 Southeast Parkway, Franklin, or in Second Harvest barrels at Kroger stores in Williamson County. Parents whose children attend daycare at Academy of McKays Mill, Academy of Heritage Commons and Academy of Westhaven can drop off diapers at their center only.

The diapers will be given to families identified as in need by GraceWorks, BRIDGES and other local agencies.
