Devastating Tornadoes Hit Oklahoma

Severe thunderstorms produced several dangerous tornadoes Wednesday night, many of which were near Tulsa and Moore, Oklahoma.

Damage reports are rolling in, including a report from the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office that 40-60 mobile homes were damaged in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Authorities confirmed to NBC there were multiple injuries in the River Oaks and River West Mobile Home Park, but no fatalities at this time. It is unclear whether a tornado or straight line winds from Arkansas River caused the massive damage.

Over 33,000 Public Service Company of Oklahoma customers were without power Wednesday night due to the storm, according to the utility’s website.

tornado destroyed a gymnastics building in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Oklahoma’s News 6 reported. Sixty people inside of the building safely escaped.

A tornado caused natural gas leaks and damaged homes in Moore, according to Oklahoma’s News 9.

tornado damage oklahomaBoth sides of Interstate 35 in Moore, Oklahoma, were closed and blocked Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service. A semi-truck was also thrown to its side, and multiple vehicles were overturned.

The Westport Marina at Keystone Lake, Oklahoma, sustained heavy damage when the structure’s roof collapsed on several boats inside, News 6 said. A donut shop off U.S. Hwy. 412 was damaged, as well, and several cars were flipped.

Damage to homes and vehicles was reported between Sand Springs and Mannford, Oklahoma, according to KJRH-TV. Structures in Tulsa were also damaged, and a building reportedly collapsed.The storm knocked out power to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, and they are operating on generator power.
