Deputies to Teach Women’s Self-Defense Course in May

A women’s self-defense program called ‘The Equalizer’ will be available in May from the Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department.

‘The Equalizer’ is taught by Certified Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, and provides training in how to reduce the risk of sexual assault, as well as self-defense techniques. Learning these techniques may help boost confidence for women of all ages, including high school and college students.

The four-week course meets on Monday nights, May 1 8, 15, and 22, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The course is for adults and teens age 15 or older. Teens age 15-17 must have a parent-signed release. The class will take place at 304 Beasely Drive at the new Public Safety Center.

‘The Equalizer’ course is free, but students may purchase a $26 training manual. To register, call (615) 790-5719, ext. 2010. Open to the public. For more information, visit www.williamsoncounty-tn.gov/womensselfdefense.
