“We could not be more excited to expand our team and welcome Joel to our Deacon’s New South family,” said General Manager Jenn McCarthy. “His experience and talent will help shape our Spring and Summer menus and further position Deacon’s New South as a top choice in modern Southern dining.”

A “seasoned” chef, Harrington brings nearly 20 years of culinary experience from several esteemed restaurants across the U.S. He received his degree in culinary arts from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York and served as a sous chef at Restaurant Aquavit in New York in 2000, where he met and worked alongside Sparks.

Harrington most recently served as the executive chef at Lido Bottle Works in Newport Beach, California. Prior to this, he worked in Dallas at both Apheleia Restaurant Group and Brown Bag Concepts and in New York at Red Rooster Harlem. Additionally, Harrington served as a chef de cuisine at several Ritz Carlton hotels around the U.S.

“I’ve always had a passion to work and live in the South, and Nashville’s vibrant culinary scene makes this the perfect fit,” said Harrington. “Deacon’s focus on fresh meats and produce from local farmers is what really excites me – not many chefs have this opportunity to cultivate relationships and provide fresh, quality food from a local network.”
