A Few More Days Left to Enter Drawing for CASA’s Playhouse

To spread awareness of CASA’s mission to advocate for abused and neglected children–and help secure funding for its vision–Williamson County CASA is raffling off a 60-square-foot mini-home this fall, equipped with amenities like electricity and air conditioning!  The winning ticket will be announced at the 31st Annual Pumpkinfest, held on Main Street October 25, 2014.

Two local nonprofits in the Franklin community are joining forces this fall to help fight for mistreated or abandoned youth within the Williamson County court system.

Students and faculty members of the interior design department at O’More College of Design have volunteered their skills and resources to help design and decorate the inside of Williamson County CASA (WCCASA)’s 2014 Twice Daily Playhouse—a 60-square-foot mini-home that’s worth $20,000, and equipped with amenities like electricity and air conditioning.

Established in 1993, WCCASA advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children in Williamson County. To augment fundraising the organization hosts two major events in the community each year, one of which is happening now: for a $20 donation, the public can place their name in the hat to win the one-of-a-kind Twice Daily Playhouse.

“This is such a wonderful collaborative effort between the interior design students and Williamson County CASA,” says Rebecca Andrews, dean of the O’More interior design department and assistant professor. “The College encourages giving back to the community through design, and this is one small way in which the students can do that.”

The Playhouse was professionally designed by Walter Kiskaddon at Kiskaddon + architects, plc, and built by Rusty Womack, a preservation contractor and owner of Home Service Plus/Womack Group. It is fully insulated and includes full wiring for lights, sockets and air conditioner. In addition, the structure has clear cedar siding, five true double-hung composite windows with tempered safety glass, custom-crafted Dutch door, custom painting and stain, pre-finishing hardwood flooring and an aluminum standing seam roof. McMorran said the playhouse ceiling height could be conducive to most adults, allowing for multiple uses such as a potting shed or art studio.

In addition to Twice Daily, Cheryl and Jim Sanders, Coyne Oral Surgery, Barge Waggoner Sumner & Cannon, Bristol Development and Hollins, Raybin & Weissman are supporting sponsors for the benefit.

Building and Design Sponsors include: Rusty Womack, LLC, Kiskaddon + architects, plc, Builders Window Supply, Carpet Den, Cedar Creek, LLC, Central Woodworks, Discount Plumbing, Elton Wentzel, Ford Roofing Co, LLC, HH Gregg, Huskey Truss and Building Supply, Lee Restoration, Lewis Glass, Southern Quality Electric, The Home Depot, Harpeth True Value Home Center, Tennessee Valley Paving Co, Inc.
