Davis House Ribbon Cutting

Davis House Child Advocacy Center

On Wednesday July 25th from 3 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. the Davis House Child Advocacy Center is holding an open house. A ribbon cutting in celebration of a name change will be the highlight of the day at 4 P.M. Earlier this year the Williamson County Board of Directors approved the Williamson County Child Advocacy Center name change.

“We needed a name change for a variety of reasons, most notably that we serve more than just Williamson County and some people incorrectly perceived that we were an agency of Williamson County government” says Marcus Stamps, Executive Director of Davis House. “Community engagement in our mission and local funding support are critical in helping the child victims we serve and we believe the new name fosters more opportunity in that regard across all of our communities,” explained Stamps.

The new name is significant in that it honors former District Attorney Ronald L. Davis and his widow for contributions to the center’s success. The center serves children who have been victims and provides a safe environment for their voices to be heard and respected. It also works with non-offending parents to empower them to protect the children and collaborates with the state mandated Child Protective Investigative Team as reported cases of child abuse are investigated.

National statistics say that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be victims of sexual abuse before age 18. DHCAC serves over 400 new children clients annually and provided 1,700 plus services at no charge last year.
