Dash Cam of Deputy Injured by Drunk Driver in Spring Hill

Thomas Arthur Thompson, 45, of Columbia,TN has been charged with speeding reckless endangerment, DUI and more after hitting a Williamson County Sheriff’s Deputy Thursday night.

According to Williamson County Sheriff’s Department, the video shows the suspect going by at 116 mph, as the officer turned in pursuit. Moments later, Officer Givens and the suspect collided. You will see Officer Givens approach the scene from the left with a definitive limp.
It happened on Columbia Pike, just north of Snowbird Hollow, around Midnight. Police reportedly spotted a man in a Cadillac exceeding speeds of 80 miles per hour around Spring Hill.

An officer with the Spring Hill Police Department attempted to stop the driver and he sped away. Authorities followed him as he traveled north on Columbia Pike and terminated the chase after the driver was reportedly clocked going 116 miles per hour.

The deputy injured, Robert Givens, was taken to Williamson Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office tells The Williamson Source that Thompson is charged with the following offenses:

Spring Hill charges:
speeding
reckless endangerment
DUI
evading arrest – felony
no driver’s license

Williamson County Sheriff’s Office charges:
speeding
reckless endangerment – felony
no driver’s license

Thompson’s bond is set at $115,000 and is due in court on July 23rd at 1pm.
