Darrell Waltrip Automotive Group celebrates 30 Years in Williamson County

With over one million service visits and more than 100,000 cars sold to date, the Darrell Waltrip Automotive Group has become a staple of Williamson County’s automotive community.

“We opened the Honda store in 1986 and it was on the wrong side of the interstate,” Darrell Waltrip said. “When you crossed over 65 and started going east we were alone over here all by ourselves in the middle of a corn field. We built here 30 years ago, just a little Honda store, and then Honda took off and became the number one selling car in America and still the resale value of a Honda is higher than any other car.

“Along the way we added Volvo, the safest car in the world, and we now have Subaru with it’s symmetrical all wheel drive and their vehicles are always hot sellers. Now we’ve added Buick and GMC. Two of the greatest years of my driving career were driving a Buick Regal. In 1981 and 1982 I won 24 races and two championships. And now I’m in the Buick business. We’ve got five great brands all right here on this campus now and it all started with that one little Honda store.”

The DWAG campus, located on Murfreesboro Road/Highway 96 just east of Interstate 65 and across the street from Williamson Medical Center, houses DW Honda, DW Subaru/Volvo and DW Buick GMC.

Just down the street is DW Pre-Owned. Offering over 650 years of combined experience, their certified technicians service Honda, Volvo, Subaru and all GM makes and models. On the sales side, many of the team members have been with DWAG for over 20 years. DWAG now employees over 260 Middle Tennessee residents.

“My parents always taught us that with hard work you can do anything,” Waltrip said. “I think that’s the legacy they left my brother Michael and I and our sisters with. That’s just what we’ve done here with the Darrell Waltrip Automotive Group, and I couldn’t be more proud.”
