cycle for life cystic fibrosis

Get your wheels in motion for the 8th annual Cycle for Life bicycle ride, raising funds for cystic fibrosis research. This unique event empowers participants to take action and demonstrate their fight in finding a cure for cystic fibrosis in a tangible, emotional and powerful way. Participants will roll through some of the most picturesque and scenic terrain in Middle Tennessee. Riders will enjoy the shade along the Harpeth River and the beauty of the Natchez Trace. Three routes offer something for every rider, from beginner to experienced.

Cycle for Life is fully-supported along all three routes; 15, 30, and 65 miles. Riders will enjoy fully stocked rest stops every 10-12 miles, ride marshals to cheer you along the way and plenty of support vehicles to help you complete the ride. From the pre-ride festivities to the Post-Cycle Party at The Cool Café, this will be a terrific day. This is a fundraising event with a minimum pledge of $165 and cyclists are encouraged to create a team to make the day that much more fun.

What is Cystic Fibrosis (CF)?
Cystic fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time. In people with CF, a defective gene causes a thick, sticky buildup of mucus in the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. In the lungs, the mucus clogs the airways and traps bacteria leading to infections, extensive lung damage, and eventually, respiratory failure. In the pancreas, the mucus prevents the release of digestive enzymes that allow the body to break down food and absorb vital nutrients.
