Cutler Headed to Titans?

The NFL Draft is nearing and rumors surrounding the Titans’ No. 2 pick are starting to swirl.

Added to the rumor mill of possible trade bait late Monday afternoon was a familiar name in Nashville – Jay Cutler.

Bleacher Report’s Stephen Nelson and NFL Insider Jason Cole reveal Chicago could be looking to trade the former Vanderbilt quarterback, along with their No. 7 draft spot, to the Titans so they can take Oregon’s Marcus Mariota.

The Titans passed up on Cutler in the 2006 NFL Draft, instead taking Texas’ Vince Young at No. 3 overall. Cutler went at No. 11 to Denver. Since that draft, Tennessee has selected three more quarterbacks – two of which are no longer in the league, not counting Young.

Meanwhile, Cutler has compiled 27,749 yards and 183 touchdowns. As good as those numbers look though, he has only played in two postseason games.

So the question remains, is a 31-year old Cutler a short-term fix for the Titans or should they start fresh with Mariota? Or should they stick with Zach Mettenberger and use the No. 2 pick for help elsewhere?

Safe to say it seems like they’ll have options.
