The reigning CPA Lions will prey on a couple of Tigers this week as they travel to Lewisburg and take on Marshall County (3-4, 2-1). CPA took on White Creek last week at home to remain undefeated.

The Class AA-District 12 teams will face off on Friday night. The Lions are currently 3-0 in the District. Marshall County is now 2-1 with a loss to Cascade, who is ranked second in the District behind CPA.

The Lions trampled over the Cobras last Friday, scoring 41 points in the first half. The roaring kings-of-the-jungle hosted Homecoming and dominated the turf. CPA caught five interceptions and rushed in six TD’s for the night.

However, if the Lions want to stay on top, the quarterbacks passing game will have to improve. Zak Weatherly only completed 6 of his 15 passes for 69 yards. But, it’s pretty obvious that CPA knows what needs to be done, looking at its record.

Marshall County has taken four losses this season to Shelbyville (4-3), Independence (4-3), Franklin County (3-4), and Cascade (6-1, 2-1). On paper, some might say that the Tigers have a tougher schedule than the Lions. CPA will take on Cascade at home for its next game and will have a tough match-up ahead.

CPA has allowed fewer points by the opposing team; the highest was against Maplewood –20 points. Marshall County has allowed its opponents to score all the way up to 49 points on its team in a single game.

The Tigers kicker will bring talent to the table. Aaron Medley is a part of the well-known Class of 2014 committed to Tennessee. Medley was sought out by schools like Texas A&M, Oklahoma, LSU, and Arkansas.

CPA has a few of those all-star players, as well.

Offensive tackle Paul Adams committed to Missouri back in May. Adams was offered by schools like Mississippi State, Cincinnati, Ole Miss, and even South Florida. Moving on down the line, we have Class of 2014 Thomas Richard joining Adams. He will be attending Missouri next fall and is a wide receiver for CPA. Richard was interested in Tennessee and Vanderbilt, as well.

The Lions will kick-off over on the Marshall County turf Friday at 7 p.m.
