CPA Leaves No Doubt; Advances to Region Championship

NASHVILLE, Tenn — If folks showed up to this game three minutes late, they would have already missed a goal. Despite Columbia Academy controlling the ball on their field in the first minute or so, CPA got into the attacking third, earned a throw in deep into CA territory and Chip Omer flicked one into the goal to put the Lions in the lead.

After that goal, things looked very certain to go in CPA’s favor Tuesday night. Not even five minutes later, J.R. Osborne slammed in a goal from just inside the 18-yard box.

“We’re finishing well off of our set pieces and that has been key for us.” Said Lions head coach Brett Armstrong said. “I felt like tonight we played well all over the field.”

Columbia Academy waited until the 18th minute before conceding the third goal of the match but it lead to another moments later.

Josh Peddiccni scored 2 goals five minutes apart from each other, to double up on the lead.

By the time the game reached half-time the Lions had scored half a dozen goals to take a 6-0 lead at the break.

CPA put it on cruise control in the second half and left the pitch with a 7-1 win and a chance at a regional championship on Thursday.

Even though they were unsure of their opponent after the game, the Lions seemed confident and they should be. They scored 11 goals in less than 80 minutes. (Second half of Page, First half of CA) and having home field advantage only adds to that confidence.

“We know we get to play here and we feel really confident at home” Armstrong said. “Having it here is a pretty good advantage for us.”
